Introducing Smart Bidding: Let Buddies Come to You

A modern app interface showing the Smart Bidding feature

When we launched HireBuddy, the process was simple: browse buddies, pick one, book a session. It worked. But we heard something over and over from users: "I know I need someone, but I don't know how to choose."

Today, we're flipping the script with Smart Bidding — a new way to find the right buddy without the decision fatigue.

How It Works

Instead of browsing, you describe your situation. That's it.

Step 1: Post what you need. "Feeling low, need someone to talk to." "New in Pune, want company for dinner." "Going through a breakup, need a distraction."

Step 2: Verified buddies in your area see your request and send personalized bids — a short message about why they'd be a good match, their availability, and their rate.

Step 3: You pick the one that feels right. No algorithms deciding for you. Just human judgment.

Why We Built This

Three insights drove this feature:

Decision fatigue is real. When you're already feeling low, scrolling through 50 profiles and making a choice is exhausting. It can actually prevent people from booking at all.

Context matters. A buddy who's great for a gym session might not be right for an emotional conversation. By sharing your situation upfront, buddies self-select based on what they're actually good at.

Agency heals. Receiving bids puts you in control. Instead of hoping someone is available, you're choosing from people who actively want to help. That shift — from seeking to being sought — is psychologically powerful.

What Users Are Saying

We've been testing Smart Bidding with 500 users over the past month. Here's what we're hearing:

  • "I described my situation and got three responses in 10 minutes. It felt like people actually cared."
  • "Reading the bids helped me understand what I actually needed. One buddy's message made me tear up."
  • "So much easier than scrolling. I just said what I was feeling and the right person showed up."

What's Next

Smart Bidding is live today for all users in Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi. We'll be rolling out to more cities over the next month.

Coming soon: anonymous posting (share your situation without your name), buddy specialization badges, and response time commitments.

You don't have to search for the right person. Just tell us what you need, and let them find you.

Try Smart Bidding today — open the app and tap "Post a Request."
